Fall is just around the corner
As always the end of Summer seems far too soon. However, we do have a marvelous Fall to look forward to. Autumn is one of my favorite seasons and I already have Ash's planting schedule arranged. I'm investing in tulips and daffodils and hope for floral fireworks in the Spring.

We've had a hectic Summer not only for visitors to Magnolia Studios, but also for family and friends. So far we have had both of our mothers, my brother and friends from England and their child. In the coming weeks we have my brother again along with my two nieces as well as Ashley's sister and her partner. She is coming here for a stop off on her honeymoon travels across the US.
Teddy is approaching his second birthday on October 25th, we are planning a small gathering of his chums and a nice cake.

Guests really seem to like the Keurig coffee makers, so all studios and the aprtment now have one. The Keurig coffee makers are excellent when you need to make coffee in a dash and the coffee is excellent. We make sure that their are plenty of the k-cups it uses for coffee, decaf, tea and hot chocolate. We hope you enjoy.

All the best for now.

Mid Summer in Edgewater
Summer has finally arrived in Chicago, and despite the 'lukewarm' temperatures, I quite like the gentle warmth as opposed to the  boiling summers we're used to. Speaking of temperate weather, I spent two weeks in England with my Mum in June, who was recovering from a hospital visit. She's on the mend now, and Magnolia Studios managed just fine without me as it was managed by my good friend Ricky Stone.

Sprucing up for Summer

As we all know, renovation projects are never really come to an end, but we're finally putting some finishing touches on the coach house, as we've just put shutters on the large garage windows, as well as juliet balconies across the second floor french doors. It now looks similar to the gingerbread house that I imagined when we bought the property in 2002; even though it was very run down back then, I fell in love with the coach house at first sight, and much of the decision to buy the larger house was driven by the potentially cute little brick building in the back yard.  As with our house and the inside of the studios, our friend Donald Klinock chose the colors and design, and all credit goes to him for picking the very pretty green which sets off the coach house, compliments the house and blends so nicely with the garden.

Speaking of the garden, I must also mention our friend Patrick Hoyne, who is as wonderful with all things green as Donald is with all things interior. Patrick has brought the back yard from a rather frightening moonscape to an oasis of lovliness in a remarkably short time, and I can only say this about our own garden because I take no credit for it, Patrick is solely responsible. It does make me happy every day though, and I realise that we're lucky to have such tolerant/ talented friends!

Lacking talent but compensating in enthusiasm, both Teddy and Speck try to lend a hand/ paw re garden maintenance.

The last picture shows that Teddy clutching a hip flask and looking quite pleased with himself. I'm hoping that he won't slip into Daddy's naughty ways until much later in life.................

Enjoy the summer and looking forward to seeing so many of you in the coming warm months.
